About Photock
Thank you for visiting Photock. Here's a brief introduction to our site's history and operating policies.
Our History
Photock opened in April 2010. At that time, there weren't as many free stock photo sites as there are today. I started this site to share my hobby photos with the world and to learn web development.
The name "Photock" is a combination of "Photo" and "Stock".

Over the years, our photos have been used by many creators, companies, and media outlets, and we increasingly receive messages of appreciation. We've recently seen an increase in visitors from overseas, and we sometimes come across articles introducing our site on foreign websites. Finding our photos used in YouTube videos always makes my day.
We may not have the largest collection, but we will continue to update at our own pace.
Our Concept
We focus on landscapes from various regions of Japan, including Tokyo, Hokkaido, and Okinawa. My hobby is traveling and walking, with a motto of "walking through areas I've never been to." On sunny weekends I explore various places, mainly around the Kanto region, taking photos along the way.
Regional Character
I especially enjoy shooting around train stations, as each one has its own unique local flavor.
Imagination
I enjoy walking while imagining "what life would be like if I lived here."
No Attribution or Account Required
While attribution-free stock photo sites are common today, more than 10 years ago many sites required links or notification reports. Since our launch, we've consistently aimed to keep restrictions to a minimum so that anyone can use our photos freely.
That said, we do have a few minimum rules in place, so please be sure to read our Terms of Use.
4 Photo Sizes
We offer 4 sizes to suit your needs. We also distribute photos in WebP format, which is rarely offered by other free stock photo sites.
Original size dimensions depend on the camera used.
